Harrison High School

Band Booster Organization

Who We Are:

The Band Boosters is a parent organization consisting of band alumni, parents/guardians of current band members, the Director of Bands and any assistants or other persons interested in the progress and development of the Harrison High School Instrumental Music program.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Harrison High School Band Booster Organization is to provide support and resources to the Harrison High School Instrumental Music program in the form of operating funds, volunteer services and organizational coordination in order to provide students with the best possible educational experiences in music.

Function

The key functions of the group are communications, chaperones, logistics and fundraising / financial support.  A telephone chain/email list is one of the means of keeping you informed.  You may be contacted to be reminded of something, asked to volunteer, informed of something, or notified of what time to expect the return of the buses on trips. (This avoids having to sit in the school parking lot for hours, especially if they are delayed).  The Band Boosters also publish a newsletter informing parents, school staff and the community of band news.  The band also needs parents to help haul and move equipment, provide food and drinks for the band, and to cheer loudly at games and contests.

Meetings

The Band Boosters meet on the second Monday of the month during the school year to discuss upcoming events, fundraising strategies and ongoing projects.  Meetings are held at 6:00pm in the HHS band room(910).  Please try to make these meetings so you can contribute your ideas!

The Next Booster Meeting is: Tuesday July 29th,at 6:00pm in the HHS Band Room

All band parents, high school and middle school, are welcome!

Officers

The band program is fortunate enough to have a few especially dedicated parent volunteers who have accepted an office in the organization.  These folks give-up a lot of time to the organization to keep it effective and running smoothly.  The Band Booster Officers for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows:

President – Laura Taylor

Treasurer – Linda Pugh

Secretary – Kim Moschetti

Ways & Means Chairperson – Rosemary Rodriguez

Volunteer/Communications Coordinator - Jeri Brown

Elections for officers for the 2008-2009 school year will be held at the parent meeting on July 29th.  Several officers have left this year, and we need some new faces to step-up and fill their shoes.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

WE REALLY NEED HELP JULY 19-26 AT THE EL PASO COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS IN CALHAN!

PLEASE CALL IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER EVEN ONLY AN HOUR!

The HHS Band Boosters are contracted to work 3 gates at the El Paso County Fair for 8 days, 12 hours a day.  There has to be at least 1 adult over 21-years-old and at least 1 student staffing each gate at all times.  In return, the county is donating $5,000 to the band program, which is practically the entire operating budget for the marching band.  Free lunches and admission to the fair is provided to all volunteers for each shift you work.

We know you appreciate the academic advantages, travel opportunities, teamwork and self-discipline that participating in a band program is teaching your child.

What could you possibly do in return?  Volunteer!

The HHS Band Boosters are always looking for more volunteers.  We can always use more help at the concerts, ball games, music festivals, marching competitions, chaperoning trips or just hemming uniforms or serving sandwiches.

Please contact Jeri Brown at 390-8938 or ajbrown02 @ aol.com for more information.
